Sex, Stems and Sustainability: Inside Margo’s Flowers

January 31, 2025
No more awkwardness, taboos or toxins. Margo's Flowers is taking intimacy out of the sock drawer, and celebrating it as loud and proud as the blooms on your bedside.

What do flowers and sex toys have in common? At Margo’s, everything. This Melbourne-based brand is on a mission to blur the lines between floral beauty and sexual wellness, creating an innovative space where connection, curiosity, and sustainability thrive. Whether it’s a bouquet that brightens someone’s day or a curated package that celebrates intimacy, Margo’s Flowers is redefining what it means to give and receive.

During the pandemic, founder Bec Patterson found herself navigating the challenges of a long-distance relationship. It was during this time that she discovered the transformative power of sustainable sexual wellness products. Drawing on her background as a stylist, art director, and florist, Bec envisioned a brand that merged her passion for design with a mission to spark meaningful connections. Enter Margo’s Flowers, Melbourne’s first online business to marry floral artistry with premium sexual wellness products.

Bec Patterson, founder of Margo’s Flowers

“As a florist, I’ve always loved how flowers connect people – they’re a universal language of care, love, and celebration. In creating Margo’s, I wanted to take that connection deeper, blending the beauty of flowers with the intimacy of sexual wellness. It’s about empowering people to connect with themselves, learning to listen to your own body, your desires, and your relationships in a natural, joyful, and sustainable way. I really wanted this kind of intimacy to feel as natural and as safe to explore as flowers.” – Bec Patterson, Founder of Margo’s.

Margo’s is built on values that influence every creation and business decision, from flower designs and bouquets to cheeky gift sets and sexual wellness products. At its core is connection – whether it’s helping people express love to others, share joy and celebration with friends, or nurture self-love. The brand’s commitment to the planet is as bold as its mission, with sustainability a key focus. Margo’s prioritises locally grown flowers over carbon and chemical-heavy imports, incorporating innovative, eco-friendly design practices and selecting only natural, toxin-free sexual wellness products that respect both the body and the planet. The brand’s playful approach encourages a stigma-free exploration of intimacy, creating a space where curiosity and empowerment thrive. From pleasure powered by plants to their playful approach to gifting, Margo seamlessly merges the two worlds of flower design and sexual wellness. Even its name – an anagram of “orgasm” reflects the brand’s cheeky and joyful ethos.

With real life connection being important to the brand, Margo’s is bringing its playful, inclusive energy to life this Valentine’s Day with their first Margo’s & Friends Pleasure Picnic at Blondes Garage, Windsor on Wednesday 12th February. An ongoing series that invites guests to an intimate evening of connection, conversation, and celebration of pleasure. Guests will enjoy open discussions on intimacy and relationships with special guests, alongside inspiring start-up stories from Margo’s founder, Bec Patterson, and the female founders behind its carefully curated stable of local sexual wellness brands. Discover the unique ingredients behind these products, and learn unexpected ways to use them for enhanced pleasure and connection. With local refreshments, fresh flowers, thoughtful gift bags, and opportunities to sample products, it’s a night designed to spark curiosity and joy.

On Thursday, 13th February, Margo’s partners with organic Tasmanian brand Three Warriors to host “I Can Buy Myself Flowers” a Flower Arranging Workshop celebrating self-care, mindfulness, and connection this Valentine’s Day. Participants will craft their own stunning floral arrangements using locally sourced, ethical blooms while learning sustainable flower design techniques. It’s a chance to slow down, explore creativity, and celebrate love in all its forms.

This journey is just beginning for Margo’s. In the near term, the brand plans to expand its in-person events and collaborations, creating more opportunities for people to connect in meaningful ways. Long-term, Bec envisions a physical concept space where flowers, sexual wellness, and workshops come together under one roof. Plans to broaden the product range to include items tailored for post-partum care, menopause, and other life stages reflect the brand’s commitment to inclusivity and empowerment.

At Margo’s, connection is at the heart of everything, grounded in curiosity, care, and a touch of cheekiness. With every bouquet, every package, and every event, the brand invites you to explore a world where pleasure and sustainability go hand in hand. Whether you’re shopping for a lover, a bestie, or yourself, Margo’s invites you to discover a world where giving and receiving is as natural as buying yourself flowers.
