How To Host a Friendsmas Party

It can be hard to juggle seeing family and friends over the Christmas break so why not host a friendsmas party? Let us show you the easiest way to do so.

1. Pick a Colour Theme

Now don’t get me wrong, a colour theme is a completely optional step however shops like Kmart and Target make colour themes such an easy prospect. Jump onto Pinterest for some inspiration however, we are seeing a lot of pink and red-themed parties but personally enjoy an Aussie summer friendsmas. The colour theme will influence things like table decorations, place cards/menus and plates/glassware.

2. Delegate the Food!

Don’t create more work for yourself by slaving over a hot oven to cook for a crowd. Ask your guests to bring a dish each but discuss what they will be bringing prior so there will be no double-ups. You also might like to have a theme for the food, but variety never hurts!

3. Create Your Place Cards and Menu

No one has time to hand-make things, especially menus and place cards! Canva is your best friend and has thousands of templates you can use to create a beautiful menu and place cards for your friends.

4. Secret Santa

A friendsmas isn’t complete without Secret Santa! There are many apps and websites that can help you randomly assign people to each other, including the host. We particularly like secretsantaorganizer.com as it emails you the person you have to buy a gift for. Don’t forget to set a price limit!

5. Have Some Activities on Standby

Activities are a nice way to break up the day, particularly in between the mains and dessert. Try making gingerbread houses, having a cocktail-making competition, watching your favourite Christmas movie (Home Alone!!) or doing something artsy like making Christmas-themed mugs.
